A nice new low top sneaker comes as part of the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2009 Collection. The sneaker comes with a leather/suede upper and a strap over the laces. We like that they kept the branding to a minimum. Look out for a release soon.

Presented earlier this year at Art Basel, we get a first detailed look at the rugs that Japanese artist Takashi Murakami produced in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. They worked on two designs, both based on paintings by the artist and they come in editions of 20 each. The round flower rug that you see above, comes in both 2 meter and 3 meter diameter. All of these rugs are hand woven at an Indian rug factory with a long and distinguished history.

We reported about the launch of the most recent Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami leather goods collection. The line was released in Japan end of April with big opening events and for those occasions the French luxury goods brand and the Japanese artist also worked on some special limited edition plush toys and plush toy key jewelry, that was only given out at the launch event. Now you can also purchase the plush toys from Cliff Edge.

The Louis Vuitton 5th Avenue flagship store in New York City has put up a very interesting new window display. They basically tell the story of the iconic LV Speedy bag with a conveyor belt installation. Check it out!

The Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Sneaker Collection will be officially released in LV stores globally tomorrow, July 1st. Last week we showed you our photoshoot, as well as a video that we shot of part of the collection. Today you get a complete look at the collection – all three models in all colorways.

As mentioned before by us, we are actually more than satisfied with the outcome of the collection, both in terms of design and in terms of quality. When we had the shoes in the office we had a lot of people come through to check them out and opinions vary widely, with most people actually liking the outcome. The tastes also go in completely opposite directions, with some people loving the flashy pink sole and others prefering the more subtle tonal styles in the collection. We belong to the second group. Quality is really on point, with all sneakers featuring butter soft leather uppers and some nice details. The Hudson boat shoe is our personal favorite, next to the tonal high top sneakers. We find the large heel flap on the low tops a little strange to be honest, but that is just our personal opinion. All in all a very solid collection of sneakers. Make sure to pass through a close by LV store to see them live, it’s well worth it.

Yesterday we presented to you our Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Footwear Photoshoot. We had worked with a lot of colors, adding some psychadelic flavors to the collection. To follow up on the photo spread, we show you today a viral video that we produced. The video has a much cleaner appearance, matching the design of the footwear. The release of the sneakers is just around the corner. Louis Vuitton stores around the globe are already taking reservations. Once again, we hope that you enjoy it!

We take a first look at the upcoming mens bags from the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. Some traditionalists might not like very much what they are seeing, but we are very happy to see the French brand part from their usual patterns, offering something new – new silhouettes, new colors and new materials, while still keeping a distinct look. We are not saying that the classic monogram patterns should entirely disappear from the mens line, but we feel that this new direction is a valid modern take and more appropriate. They offer many new styles, with the backpack being one of the most interesting. It comes in several leather types, including a premium oestrich version.

As part of their 100th anniversary celebrations Selfrdiges worked with Louis Vuitton on the Speedy Concept Store. The Speedy is one of the better known Louis Vuitton bag styles and for the occasion they created some great installations, using hundreds of bags.

By now, most of you have seen the line-up of sneakers created by Kanye West for Louis Vuitton. Opinions vary on the outcome of the collection. We’ve always compared the line to what Louis Vuitton has done in the past with sneakers, and think the Kanye West collection beats those efforts by leaps and bounds. Just like in the regular sneaker game, some people like it more colorful, others like it more subtle, and this line-up offers something for both tastes. Personally, we prefer the tonal high tops. We also had the chance to field test them and can tell you that quality and fabrication are very much on point, as to be expected from Louis Vuitton.

Having worked recently with Nike on the Air Yeezy, the LV collection is the second major sneaker project by Kanye West. Take a step back and think about what is happening here – we see collaborations all the time with boutiques, brands, artists and other creative fields. How many times can the colors and the materials on the same shoe silhouette be changed and still look new and different from the hundreds of releases we see every year? Kanye West got to design his very own silhouettes in both cases, probably the most impressive part about these projects.

With the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton sneakers releasing worldwide in the coming weeks, we wanted to do something out of the ordinary with the footwear Louis Vuitton gladly lent us for this special shoot. We teamed up with German photographer Daniela Muller-Brunke to shine some new light onto the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton collection. To give you some background on the shoot, we used the iconic LV symbols and projected them in different colors onto the background of the sneaker, with the outcome being a psychedelic mix of fading colors. Hopefully you like it.
