Succeed at Selling Designer Handbags On eBay

Chanel Gucci Prada Hermes Louis Vuitton

Some our hottest selling items over the last four years have been designer handbags and shoes. Even when the economy seems to be in a slump, somehow someone is still always willing to indulge themselves buying high end luxury accessories. In the last week we have sold one previously owned Chanel handbag for $930 and two vintage previously owned Louis Vuitton bags for $1000. The buyers got a great deal and the seller now has some big cash in the bank.
Our customers ask if the items need to be new. New bags are great but most of the consignment handbags we sell are previously owned and in excellent condition. Even the bags that are in not such great shape sell as well, but for significantly less. Why not take a look in your closet and clean out what you look at every day but never seem to use or wear. The money you make can be used for something that more suits you at this time I your life.
Q: What brand of hand bag sells best?
A: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes, Prada, Judith Leiber, and Chloe have sold for the highest dollar amounts. However we have has a lot of success with Coach, Burberry, Isabella Fiore, and Juicy Couture as well.
Q: Can I buy a handbag from you that Just Sell It is selling for a customer?
A: Yes, and since we only sell the highest quality items that we come across, you can buy from us and be confident that you are getting a great product for an amazing price. Just go to justsellitstore.com to view all items we are selling at any given time. We even have customers who will email us a about a particular handbag they want to get in case we may come across it. Please email us with any requests. We may come across just what you are looking for!
Q: How do designer shoes sell? Do they have to be new?
A: Certain designer brands do well whether they are worn or new. Chanel, Gucci, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Roger Vivier are probably the top sellers.

1. STITCHING
Stitching can be a dead giveaway. Inconsistent stitching and sloppy construction in less visible areas, such as the underside of the bag or inside pockets, are details to look for immediately. Authentic designer bags tack on an extra zero on that price tag due to extra, carefully-crafted construction. They cost more because they are built more complexly. Counterfeit products usually do not have the care of construction that the real item has. If the construction looks simplistic, it’s likely to be a phony.

2. MATERIALS
Many fakes are no longer made of PVC but of reasonably good leather, even lambskin; however, they are seldom as good as the materials labels like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Coach would use. Fake purses tend to be stiff and often have some sort of discoloration. SMELL if it smells like chemicals it’s a fake. We all know what leather is supposed to smell like. When dealing with replica leather handbags, make sure the leather does not have an uneven look that is consistent. Also, people generally assume designer bags should be lined, which is why many replicas are lined. But, on the contrary, real purses are not.

3. Fake purses & handbags are advertised on the internet as “Fakes”. Sellers buy these then sell them on Ebay as genuine. Take a look at the picture on a website selling fakes and look at the picture the seller is using – if it is the same it’s fake.

Good Luck!

10 SIMPLE RULES FOR BUYING AUTHENTIC DESIGNER HANDBAGS & ACCESSORIES

By: Cybil of Luna Morada Auctions

There are a few simple rules to keep in mind when purchasing designer merchandise over the internet. These rules apply to most designer merchandise. This guide should be used as reference/ advice and as always, Buy at You Own Risk.

    (In Descending Order)

10. Documentation: Most designer merchandise comes with documentation such as controllato cards, warranty cards, authentication cards ( which numbers should always coincide with a serial number or model number of the bag, usually posted on the backside of the maker’s tag or on a sticker located somewhere on the merchandise)

9. Return Policy: Does the seller provide a guarantee of authenticity? Do they offer a money back guarantee? If not, they are:
A. Not confident about their merchandise
B. The merchandise is not authentic
C. They don’t want to deal with buyer’s remorse.
Please advise: this does not always mean that the merchandise is not authentic. There are many good sellers who have impeccable merchandise who do not offer money back guarantees; but as a rule, but buy at your own risk because you are stuck with whatever you buy. Also, beware of buyers that offer a money back guarantee based on “authenticity”. This policy gets you nowhere because designer boutiques will not authenticate merchandise, so it is impossible to retain the right documentation to receive a refund. The best you could do is have the merchandise appraised by a third party that is not affiliated directly with the designer and this could take several weeks.

8. Materials: What is the piece made of? Does it look like leather, but is listed as faux leather? Does it look cheap in the photos? Designer merchandise is always high end and made of the best materials. Most designers use only the best skins, genuine leather, hardware and fabrics to compose their products.

7. Craftsmanship: Is the craftsmanship shoddy? Are you questioning the look of the merchandise at all? Trust your first instinct. If it looks fake, it probably is. As a rule, designers have an eye for detail and reflect it in their products. For example, a Chanel handbag’s quilted diamonds will always be exactly symmetrical and lined up with one another. A Louis Vuitton bags “LV” will always line up, as well. The stitching will also be tight and not be an eyesore and you certainly won’t see glue anywhere on the bag.

6. Know your seller: Always check seller feedback and ask as many questions as possible before bidding. A reputable seller will almost always answer your questions within 24 hours. As for feedback; if there is even one feedback regarding dis-authentic merchandise, buy at your own risk. On one hand, it could be an in-experienced buyer offering an in-experienced opinion, but usually the buyer is right. Check the seller’s location. Purchasing in the country you live in is usually best because out of country sellers are hard to prosecute. Also, if a seller’s eBay account reflects one address and their Paypal account another and the billing checkout, yet another… this is usually a sign that they are trying to be elusive.

5. Pictures: Does the seller provide detailed and adequate photos of the product? Are the photos blurred or look like they have been taken from another online selling venue? It is always best if a seller can prove a photo was taken by them.

4. Origin: Where was the bag purchased from or acquired from? Does the seller have proof of purchase? Why are they selling the merchandise? Sometimes items are purchased through other auction sites or even bought and resold from eBay. What makes the seller confident that they are offering an authentic product? These are important questions to ask.

3. Price: Is the seller offering a $2000 item for $400? Does this sound credible to you? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If a product can stand on its own little protective feet, it will fetch a good price that is closer to the original price. If the product is questionable, it will probably be listed for a low, blowout price to garner sales.

2. Payment Methods: Never ever purchase anything; designer merchandise included; through Western Union or by bank transfer. These methods of payment offer you absolutely NO PROTECTION and do not look into the identity of the recipient. Submitting payment through a secure merchant account such as Paypal or BidPay is always ideal. If a seller has no Paypal account because they report they are having “trouble” with them, this is usually a bad sign. This could mean any number of things: that they have had questionable transactions, they owe money to a reversed transaction, that they have been reported by an eBay or Paypal member for not sending or providing merchandise that is not as described, that they have not provided the correct identifying information, etc. These are all red flags. Never send cash in the mail, either.

1. Trust Your Instincts: Never dismiss any questions or feelings you have about an item(s). If it doesn’t feel right, don’t take the chance of purchasing the item to find it is not real. Even if it feels right and the transaction proceeds to a sale (and you receive fake merchandise), know your rights and which steps to take. Actively work with cooperative sellers. Sometimes, they are just as much a victim as you are. Many sellers buy online to resell and they could have been a victim of fraud as well. However, it is up to you to recover your losses and then up to them to do the same for themselves. Never allow them to victimize you because they don’t want to get stuck with the short end of the stick. Most sellers are cooperative though, so exercise your best judgment in dealing with these types of situations. Also, cover your bases before buying… know what steps to take in case of emergency. The best and first step to take is to notify the seller and file a claim with either eBay or Paypal . Square Trade is also a wonderful site to use as a mediation tool and sellers that bear the Square Trade seal are usually committed to pro-actively working with buyers. Also, remember that it is up to you to stop fraud before it happens and take an active role in preventing it.

There are many excellent authentic designer deals to be found on eBay . eBay does it’s best to filter out fraudulent activity and provide a safe marketplace for buyers and sellers. However, it is never foolish to arm yourself against fraud and victimization. Make sure you ask questions and buy with confidence. Also, help make the marketplace safe for everyone by reporting suspicious merchandise by using the “report this item” link at the bottom of every auction page. Also, for your convenience, I would be happy to offer an experienced opinion on the authenticity of designer products. Please feel free to email me with any questions, supporting documents and photos. Good luck in your search for designer merchandise and HAPPY BIDDING!

    Sincerely,

Cybil of Luna Morada Auctions :0)

Determining the authenticity on any product can be a little tricky, but if you know the basics, you will be able to spot a fake in just a few seconds.

One of the best ways to ensure your new handbag is authentic is to look at the bag itself. Designer handbags are popular and cost as much as they due because first and foremost they are made from quality materials.

Take a good look at the stitching –

There should be no loose or missing stitches

The color of the thread should match the main color of the bag

The stitches should be evenly spaced
If the handbag is leather, the logo should be engraved, not just printed on the leather.

Also take a look at the hardware –

All of the hardware should match in color and sheen

The hardware should also be free of scratches

Pay close attention to the brand name and logo –

The brand name or logo should be engraved – not embossed or simply printed on the hardware

You can also find the brand name of logo engraved on the strap hardware on Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Chanel

Make sure to inspect the material inside the bag –

The lining is usually made of a satin material that has a nice shine to it

Most designer handbags have the name brand name or logo on the lining

Designers almost always use leather accents, not plastic

Some purses have straps that are specially coated and seem to be artificial. However a quick look at the edge of the strap, usually near a stitched joint, should reveal a leather core.

Is there an authenticity card –

An authenticity card is a little card that usually has the manufactures logo embossed on the front and has some information about the product you purchased

Sometimes this card includes a magnetic strip, or bar code

Many manufacturers, including Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Kate Spade and Coach, use these cards

Check for a serial number –

Not all manufacturers use serial numbers, but many do

The serial number for Fendi purses can be found on the inside pocket. Simply turn the pocket inside out and there will be a printed number on the fabric or possibly on the leather tag

Gucci includes a small leather tag on the zipper seam of the handbag which includes a serial number

Seller claims to beware of –

If the seller does not accept returns this should be a big warning sign – if the bag is as they claimed the seller should not be worried about returns

Does the seller offer an authenticity guarantee – if the seller claims they don’t know the authenticity but they think the handbag is real it’s probably a fake – A seller that has an authentic handbag should stand behind their products 100%

Does the seller refuse to answer questions

Look at the location of the seller (posted in the auction) – most handbags from Asia are replicas – be especially careful when purchasing from China, Korea, and Singapore

Check if the auction is a drop shipment – remember there are no wholesalers of luxury handbags so drop shipment means they items are fake

Review the seller’s feedback and previous sold items – if they sell a lot of the same exact handbag beware – why would someone have 15 of the same bag?

If you shop wisely, and inspect the bag carefully, you will be able to spot a fake from a mile away. Good luck and happy bidding on eBay!!

I focus heavily on how you can buy cheap, authentic handbags in good condition on eBay.

Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Paolo and I’m a shopoholic . If you are curious to know why a guy has so much knowledge on handbags and shopping, please click here to visit my “About Me” page. I’ve been buying on eBay for a while now and what prompted me to write this guide is the fact that I feel terrible for the people who pay hundreds of their hard earned money on some fake purse that can be bought in Chinatown for a fraction of what they pay. It’s my wish that you will find this guide helpful at the end.

What’s Cheap?
What’s cheap to me may not be cheap to you, so let me define my definition of cheap. Of course my standard varies from brand to brand and model to model, but as a general rule, I consider something’s fair if I could buy it for 20% of its original retail price. So if a handbag retails for $1000 and I can buy it for $200, that’s fair to me (again, this varies from brand to brand. You would be very, very lucky to buy authentic LV handbags for 20% of its costs). Of course, the condition of the bags has to be excellent. I can tolerate some minor scratches from general use, but I’ve never purchased anything with flaws, ripe, stain, holes & etc. The key here is to find cheap authentic bags that are in great condition.

Myth: If the price is too good to be true, it has to be fake.
This is probably one of the common advices from other review guides. I personally don’t believe in this statement and I have proven many times that the statement is wrong. I purchased an authentic Louis Vuitton Abbesses Messenger for $210 instead of $1120 in Louis Vuitton (if you do some research on LV Abbesses, people would even pay $350+ for a fake one on eBay). I bought an authentic Prada hobo bag for little over $110, which retails in Neiman for $960, and I can go on and on and on. I’ll show you in the next section on how to buy like me. My point here is that if you always believe the statement is true, you’ll never find a good bargain, which is what eBay is all about. There are good deals out there, you just have to find them. A word of caution: If an authentic handbag has a low buy-it-now price, I would approach this with extreme caution and make sure I know what I’m buying.

In order to find a good bargain on authentic handbags, you must know how to tell a fake one from an authentic one. Here are some general tips on how to identify and avoid buying fake Louis Vuitton, Prada and other designer handbags.

1) Get to know the item: You have to know what you are buying. If you are buying a LV Papillon, you better know the bag inside and out. Use the Internet to help you. If you are buying on eBay, chances are you have access to the Internet. Take advantage of today’s technology. Google the item you want to buy and learn as much as you can on that bag. Visit their official website and check out the bag’s features. Take a trip down to your local Neiman, Saks & official boutiques on a weekend and familiarize yourself with the bag. ** While you are there, make sure you document some unusual features only found on authentic items so you can ask the sellers later on.

2) Make sure you know how to distinguish a real one from a fake one: Google “xxxxxx buying guide” and you’ll find many helpful guides on how to identify real and fake handbags. If you know friends who can authenticate handbags, ask them to give you a hand. If you don’t want to do the work, I offer Louis Vuitton and Prada authentication service for a small fee and if you are interested, please click here to find out more.

3) Ask sellers many, MANY questions: If you’ve done all your research homework, you should know your item’s features very well. So when you see an item you like, ask them all the SPECIFIC feature questions. Remember I mentioned to document some unusual features only found in authentic items before? Here’s a great chance to ask the seller. Don’t forget to get all the answers from the seller too. I found many sellers only answer certain questions and purposely avoid others. If you notice the sellers skipped questions 4 and 8, reply back and ask them again. If the sellers answer your questions without really answering, it’s a pretty good sign that the bag is not authentic. Sellers who know their bags are authentic have nothing to hide and will always answer all your questions. Yes, never bid on an item if the seller doesn’t reply to your questions.

4) Avoid asking generic questions: Please don’t ask generic questions and just take their answers for it. I read many times the buyer asks “Is this authentic?” and the seller says “sure is, 100% authentic”. Hmmm…okay… how so!!! Everyone would say their product is authentic. I’ve never came across a listing where they list out that they are selling a replica Prada bag. If there was, eBay would have deleted the posting anyway. If you don’t know what you are buying, at least ask some prove of authenticity and follow up questions. 100% authenticity guarantee doesn’t do the trick either. What it means is just an exchange of money back and forth. Sellers usually require you to pay for your own shipping if you want to ship it back (some sellers will specifically ask you to use Fedex or UPS to ship back and we all know how much that would cost). The high shipping cost that you have to pay is sometimes enough to buy a fake one in Chinatown anyway, so the 100% authenticity guarantee really doesn’t mean anything. Don’t waste your money on unnecessary shipping.

5) Don’t get fooled by feedbacks, seller’s status and guarantees: I’ll probably get many hate mails from the sellers, but be VERY careful when buying from “trusted powersellers”. You have probably browsed through many listings that says something like “trusted power seller with 5000+ positive feedbacks. 100% authentic so bid with confidence.” Please don’t get me wrong that some do sell authentic items, but many others don’t. More importantly, don’t get fooled by the number of positive feedbacks a seller has. Many buyers on eBay simply don’t know what they are buying; hence even though they have a fake handbag, they think they have an authentic one and leave a positive feedback for the seller. Only when the bag meets her authentic cousin, then they realize they have a fake bag. My point here is that don’t get fooled by the number of positive feedbacks and their selling status. I don’t care if they are platinum, gold, silver, powerseller, power ranger, or whatever. ** The only one I believe is trust worthy when buying Louis Vuitton is mypoupette. But again, those with the the mypoupette status usually set their prices high and it’s highly unlikely that you’ll get a good bargain on those items because everyone else knows the bag is real. *** If a seller sells many bags of the same style, I would be very careful about the seller and the item. I would say 9.5 out of 10 that the item is fake.

6) Never bid with less than 24 hours without researching: You are browsing for a handbag and all the sudden you see one you really like but it only has 3 hours left. You quickly rush to ask shipping and authenticity questions but only got a reply with 30 mins left to go. You are all hyped up, but still have to decide 1) what’s my max bid, 2) am I paying too much, and most importantly 3) is this bag really authentic. I’m sure we have all encountered many similar scenarios, because I have. My point here is that never bid on an item with less than 24 hours without prior research. Leave yourself with at least 24 hours to talk to the seller. From my experience, sellers usually take at least 12 hours to reply your questions and if you are asking follow up questions, chances are that 24 hours may not be enough. Why we have to ask questions you ask. Two reasons: 1) I rarely see a listing with enough information on it to determine whether a bag is worth bidding. 2) If there isn’t enough info on the listing to determine if the bag is authentic, the only other way is through asking them questions.

7) Leave your excitement at the door: For you ladies who are familiar with poker, you will know this advice. Shopping on eBay is like shopping in a mall. My advice to both type of shopping is that if you see something you really like, walk away, browse through the entire mall first, then come back and decide if you truly like the item. Of course, if you have tons of cash to burn, you can shop til you drop. But for the other common folks with a budget, calm yourself down first before you buy anything. You make the most mistakes when you are bidding purely on excitement, pressure, or adrenaline, not on facts and research. Take a chill pill, calm yourself and focus on facts and research.

Research the street price and set your budget: If you are looking to buy a specific model, make sure you know the ballpark price on eBay, fake or real. What I usually do is that I research the average winning bid for the model I want to buy and I set my budget according to my research. I usually set my maximum bid as the average closing bid. This way I know I’ll never overpay for an item. ***** Once you set your budget, DO NOT change it. I know it’s always tempting to go over your budget whenever you get the outbid message, especially on an item you’ve been looking for a long time. But resist yourself. Take a deep breath, bite your tongue (or fingers) and walk away once you are out-bided. If you’ve done your research, you know the bag doesn’t worth that much and the higher bidder is overpaying for the item. Believe me, there’s no such thing as one in a lifetime chance to buy a handbag on eBay. You will always have a chance to bid for another similar item in the future, usually at better prices too.

You’ve done your homework and are ready to find a true bargain on eBay. Let me share with you some tips on how to spot a true authentic designer handbags at low prices. This is not going to be easy because it takes time, hard work and patient to find a real authentic bargain.

1. Listings with blurry picture and short description: how many times have we seen listings with only one blurry picture and a one line description? When most people see a listing with one blurry photo, they would usually click the back button and continue with their search. Now, I’m not saying all poorly written listing is a hidden gem, but you never know. You’ll be surprised that many sellers actually have more pictures on the item, but they don’t post it because it costs them more to post. For the sellers who don’t have additional pictures, if you ask them nicely, they might take some and send them to you and you might just find a hidden gem.

2. Listing with a new seller with no or few feedbacks: Many people have a policy that they will only buy handbags from sellers with certain % of feedback score. I’m not against such thinking; however, you should never skip a posting because they have little or few feedbacks. Remember, we are all a newbie on eBay once. If you do find a hidden gem from a seller with no or few feedbacks, you should approach with caution and definitely use your facts and research on the bag. Communication is very important.

3. Listing that ends on Wednesday and Friday night: eBay claims that the busiest time with the most traffic is during Saturdays and Sundays around evening time. Now, this is great news for sellers; however, it’s not good news for buyers because you just have that much more competition for your bag. eBay also claims that Wednesdays and Fridays are usually slower with less traffic. This is great news for the buyers, so keep an eye out for bags that end on Wednesdays and Fridays.

4. Listing with spelling error: Another fantastic way to find hidden gems. You’ll be surprised how many sellers actually don’t use spell check for their listings. Examples: “Ferragamo” vs. “Ferragano”, “Marc Jacobs” vs. “Marc Jacob”, “Louis Vuitton” vs. “Louis Vuiton”. These listings with spelling errors usually have fewer hits because most people don’t find them, so be sure to take advantage of the seller’s mistake.

These are some of my tips and I hope that you find it helpful for your next bargain hunt.

If you want the comfort of knowing you are buying an authentic item, try my authentication service.

Handbag, purse, satchel, bag, tote, sack . . . all are names for a woman’s (and some men’s) most important accessory. The one thing least likely to be forgotten or left behind. The one thing you need to carry your “stuff!” They come in all sizes and shapes, can be made of almost anything you can think of, from paper to straw to canvas to plastic, from metal to mesh to cloth, from calfskin to lambskin to crocodile and ostrich. It’s still a bag and you need one (maybe many more than one!)

So what makes a bag an Unusual Handbag? Quality, style, craftsmanship, material and a certain cache: authentic designer handbags. These bags can range in price from a few hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars. Although there are new designers all the time, the established names are legendary: Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Chanel, Balenciaga, Tods, Burberry, Dior, YSL, and the less well known and almost cultish Chloe, Ghurka, Bottega Veneta, and Miu Miu. Leathers either amazingly soft and supple or carefully textured to withstand the weather; meticulously crafted signature fabrics; rare and costly skins like ostrich, crocodile, python and other snakes; gold, silver, and titanium mesh; careful attention to details like stitching, hardware; sleeper bags that can be almost as coveted as the bags themselves; and, of course, the all-important logo, either subtly hidden somewhere or boldly emblazoned for the world to see. Carefully planned for and purchased, and passed from mother to daughter, or collected and hoarded by the wealthy and the celebrated. THESE are Unusual Handbags.

With all this going on, there are always those who would cheat and copy: the fakes (mostly from China but not exclusively.) Whether called “replicas” or “imitations” or “inspired-by,” the fact is they aren’t the real thing: they aren’t made the same, they don’t feel the same, they don’t wear the same. They are fakes, and making them and selling them is illegal. Some people don’t care and buy them knowingly. To each his own. But, sadly, there are many who pay good money only to find out later that they bought a fake. Sad. Don’t be mislead.

It IS possible to find, admire, and buy AUTHENTIC designer handbags, even on the internet, and sometimes at a discount. Just be realistic: If a website is offering a new $2,000 Gucci handbag for less than $300 . . . it can’t be real. Some brands just are not available except at company-owned boutiques and high-end department stores (Louis Vuitton is a great example.)

We specialize in pre-owned 100% AUTHENTIC Louis Vuitton, Coach, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Kate Spade, Fendi and other highend accessories.

The surest way to know you are buying an authentic designer item is to buy it new with the tags, bag and box. If you have the COA (card of authenticity) you know you are getting an authentic bag.

Make sure that the seller will stand behind their guarantee of authenticity. You should always be able to take a handbag purchased on eBay to a retailer to confirm that it is in fact authentic.

There are several ways to protect yourself when buying online. For example:

* Avoid one day listings. This is used by some sellers in order to have their replicas sell under the radar.

* Avoid private feedback sellers. Any seller should stand behind their items and their customer service.

* Avoid money order/cashiers check only auctions. You will not have any Paypal protection in case of fraud.

* Avoid any listings that state they won’t answer questions regarding authenticity. Any seller should stand behind their items and gladly answer your questions.

* Carefully read the seller’s feedback. This will give you great insight into their customer service in case problems arise.

* Do not wire transfer money as this is not a safe way to purchase.

Most importantly, do your research and know the brand and style you hope to purchase!

Remember that no one can buy Louis Vuitton, GUCCI or Chanel wholesale. Those brands are only available new at the boutiques.

Fragrances are a little harder to authenticate. You should always do some window shopping prior to making an online purchase to become familiar with the fragrance and brand you are interested in.

We hope you found this guide helpful!
