Step1

After the time I have spent researching handbags, I have come to recognize many signs that an item is a replica that most people would overlook.

First of all, check the location of the seller, which is posted in the auction. In many, BUT NOT ALL, cases, sellers from Asia are selling replica bags. The reason behind this is that countries in this area have very unspecific intellectual property laws, so factories which manufacture replica products are very prevalent. Sellers from China, Korea and Singapore are especially dangerous.

Also, it is important to check the wrapping of the bag in the picture. Paper around buckles, plastic over handles, and square tags of material hanging from a strap are all telltale signs of a replica. Brand new bags from the boutiques never have any wrapping around them UNLESS THE BAG WAS SPECIAL ORDERED. Special-ordered bags are typically the newest “It” bags, like the Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 was a few years ago. 1.  Any seller with private feedback, even though they may have 200 positive and only 3 are negative.  Those three are probally the ones that left negative information on the fake items.    For example: Check out my feedback.. I purchased a fake yurman and sent it back before I could even get it out of the pouch.   She stated it was sold to her as a fake from her dealer.  Yeah right, if you look at the feedback I left her, look above my feedback there is a statement from a “BUYER” (which is a partner that is scamming as well selling david yurman) the “buyer”,  user id is  bear something,  stated that the bracelet was beautiful and was confirmed authentic by store.   This “buyer” sells the same fake yurman. 

2.  THE PRICE – I know even my used pieces of yurman, I would never sell for less then half the value.   There are alot of shank rings that are going for less than $400.00 these I would not trust.  They are fakes.

3.  THE PICTURES-  Stock pictures from websites such as NM or Saks should not be used as a sellers picture.   If they are selling products of such high value, then they need to invest in a camera.

4. SECOND CHANCE Offers – Sellers contacting you afterwards stating they say you bid and they had just one more if you want it.   Dont trust these people… Happened to me with a Louis Vuitton purse.

5.FEEDBACK FEEDBACK FEEDBACK – It says it all.  Trust no one with feedbacks questioning were if its fake or real.  READ THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK.  LOOK FOR STATEMENTS LIKE, “Not what I expected, thanks for the full refund”  THESE PEOPLE KNEW IT WAS FAKE AND COOPERATED IN FEAR OF LOSING THEIR MONIES.   SELLERS THAT ARE SCAM ARTIST WILL THREATHEN YOU, DONT LET THEM SCARE YOU.  YOU THREATHEN THEM WITH THE LAW.  CALL YOUR AUTHORITIES!  I WOULD! 6. POPULAR FAKE STYLES… David Yurman Topaz.  I have noticed the small deco ring, comes in Smokey Quartz and Blue topaz.  View this ebay item number 290003644250.  They do a great job showing you the difference.   And look out for the shank ring.. Most are all fakes.

9. Watch out for SELLERS who sell “as is” even though they may post PERFECT pictures of the item you are getting, they are not. I recently bought some DY Quartrefoil earrings, they were sold AS IS, and they were not as they were displayed in the picture.  SCAMMERS The earring had a flaw and the seller stated they were AS IS, she would exchange, but I would have to REPAY her 12 bucks to mail me a good pair.  I HATE EBAY!

When you are intending on buying real authentic material make sure there is a Model Number and sometimes a Color Code that comes along with the product. From there you can do research on the item (so much as a quick Google search) and find that the product that is being sold is authentic.
